Laughing over Spilled paint and other stuff… Nov, 7, 2016

So first things first, we had baptism on the 5th of this month. It went really good, R** who is 16 got baptized by her friend’s dad. She invited lots of her family so there were lots of non-members and members. R***’s mom is also taking the lessons and will hopefully get baptized hereafter just a few things she needs to overcome.
This week we also helped Sister W**** who is a convert of 3 years paint her trim in her hew house. Ever since she joined the church life hasn’t been easy but she keeps on going. It was lots of fun painting and we were already laughing when she spilled a good amount of paint on the floor. She like fell to the floor laughing and almost rolled in the spilled paint. Luckily we got most of the paint out with some elbow grease.
So this Branch is really struggling if I haven’t mentioned that before. I guess they have had some members move out and it seems as though every family is going through a different trial. They had a goal of 2 baptisms this year as a branch which is pretty low. They hit that for this year and hopefully we will get one or two more baptisms before the years through. It is a struggle getting anyone to do any missionary work here. So we really work a lot with the few missionary minded families and have lessons with other families.
So the branches situation has been on my mind a lot. This area really needs miracles and lots of faith if it will ever become a ward. I just pray I can be where I need to be and say what I need to say.
Love ya,

Breaking Windows and Holding Snakes…Oct. 24, 2016

So hmm.. this week was full of service, breaking windows, popping tires and luckily lessons.
For service this week we chopped wood for a less active member. But on the way we had loaded up this dryer in the back of the truck to take to him. I put it in the truck laying down because I was scared it would slide and crack the window. Then my companion tilted it up and he doesn’t take advice very well so I just let it be. Then driving down the highway going 70 the wind moved it and it cracked our back window to the truck. 450 dollars later. And then also that day we found a screw in our tire. Glad I am not the one driving, I try not to it’s safer that way.
We also volunteer at the senior center Thursday and Friday. All the old ladies ask the staff that work there where they found such handsome boys. The old ladies also think I am in high school and they wonder how I got the day off school. :/
We’ll be having a baptism on November 4th in this ward. She is 15 or 16 and she is the one whose snake I was holding. Her mom and her sister are still preparing for baptism so hopefully we can make that happen this transfer.

Museum and Conference WOW, Oct. 3, 2016

Hey family,

Elder Egbert with his Aunt Kara’s Parents, Ross and Sue Shriever from Liberty, MO at their nieces home for Conference in Smithville!

So this week I will probably write a family email and then one about the week.
First off I got both packages. 📦 Thank you so much that was awesome stuff. I never thought the weirdest food I would eat on my mission would be shipped from my parents 😉  I just hope I will be able to fit all my stuff into suitcases I’ve accumulated quite a lot.
Transfers are Thursday. Bro Packard, the branch mission leader, really, really doesn’t want me to get transferred. He is having me email president and ask to stay and he is also emailing President Vest. Ha who knows what’ll happen.
So lots and lots of miracles this week. Bro Tebbs took us to the museum that was just WOW. Tons of lessons with everyone. 9 member presents, 1 other lesson, 6 @ sacrament and 6 RCLA’s (recent converts and less actives). We count everyone that watched conference with us as a sacrament.  Those are super good numbers. Sometimes whole districts don’t even get 9 member present, so we have been blessed and busy.
Donna’s husband is on a roll, she called the Packard’s, her friends and thanked them for everything and the transformation of her husband. Donna can hardly believe it. We watched priesthood with him and the Packards from home.
Sunday was awesome, watched conference at the Walkers and ate cinnamon rolls. Then went to the Boodles* at 3 to watch Conference. The first couple talks were lots of doctrine and I was just praying that there would be speakers that would reach them. My prayers were answered. Such powerful testimonies were born during talks and the spirit was so strong. After conference we had a huge dinner and then talked about more gospel stuff. While talking about the priesthood Bro Boodles* with teary eyes asked if we do blessings. He just got diagnosed with prostate cancer. His dad died from prostate cancer. I think he is going to have me give the blessing when we go back over today. I’m nervous and scared and really have been praying that I can give him the blessing the Lord wants him to have. Blessings are brought about through faith and faith and fear cannot reside at the same time. So I will trust in the Lord’s promise in D&C 84:85
85. Neither take ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man.
Kelly*,  his wife is not a member and is progressing wonderfully. They are both pretty much investigators.   Bro Boodles* didn’t even know he was a member when we knocked on his door for the first time. It was amazing how we found them back when it was Elder Durbano and I. We were just trying some less actives and non actives I had never met and the Boodles* were close by our house but kind of tricky to find their house because of the long driveway and google maps didn’t really get ya to the right spot.
Anyways love ya lots thanks again for the packages!

Pictures! Sept 26, 2016

Hey family,

Me, Donna’s husband, Donna, Bro. Packard, Elder Craner

This week was awesome. So hmm.. I don’t even know where to start in these emails.
So the highlight of the week was a dinner and lesson with D* and her husband. We went over there and she fed us mouth watering homemade pizzas’s! Then for dessert we had chocolate covered nutter butter minis with homemade banana bread. And then she gave us some banana bread to go! During dinner the Packard’s came over and stole some food also and we had a lesson and focused on Bob*. He and his son have decided to get baptized on October 28th. Brother Packard’s asked him how he knew it was true and gained a testimony. He responded by saying that whenever we come over and share message he feels..happy. It sounds really silly in the email, but Bob* is shy and when he said that the spirit just came into the room so strong. The Packard’s got all teary eyed and D* was like 😮.  They both came to church and this week Bob* stayed the whole time! All three hours!
Anyway, more later I’ll probably have to look through my journal to remember things.
Love ya!
