To the Temple! April 12, 2016

Hi,

Well it’s been a couple weeks since I sent a weekly email, so sorry. These past couple weeks have been awesome. A member that had his house burn down a of couple months ago is living with a family here in Ottawa. He invited a friend over to conference. She has been going through some rough patches being a single mom and having a troubled 14 year
old son. He boldly promised her that if she would watch conference and come prepared to receive an answer she would get one. So we went over there and met her Sunday morning and watched the first session, but her questions still had not been answered. We couldn’t be there with her to watch the second Sunday session but we heard from the member that
her questions were answered. We don’t know what she was asking, but thankfully she got what she needed. She also attended church this week!

A miracle that happened this week was with a less active family.   Lets call them the Smiths. We went over earlier this week and  there was a lot of tension in the home with the husband and wife. As we were talking with Brother Smith I asked him how his prayers have been going. He said they were non existent. So we asked him if he would pray and he
agreed.

About 3-4 days later we are at the church syncing our iPads and Sister Smith shows up and says, “Hey, Brother Smith is home why don’t you come over…”….it sounded more like a statement when she said it, not a question, so we went over to the house. Their house was all clean and orderly.  No toys laying around or anything. Brother Smith was really happy and he’s like guys guess what! I’ve been praying, does it feel different? There definitely was a better spirit in the home. That night we also gave a priesthood blessing to his wife. And for the first time since I’ve been here they came to church.

We are going to the Temple for the first time here in Missouri tomorrow.   I’m really excited for that. Can’t wait to receive revelation and spiritual strength from going. It’s been too long.

Fasting is great, I learned this lesson from the scriptures recently about fasting.

Mathew 17;
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we
cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I
say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall
say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall
remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

If you have a weakness or sin that you have struggled to overcome, you
may need to fast and pray in order to receive the help or forgiveness
you desire. Like the demon that Christ cast out, your difficulty may
be the kind that will go out only through prayer and fasting. (True to
the Faith)

In closing, You can’t live Soft and preach Hard. -Unknown missionary.

Love y’all sooo much 🙂
